The L. A. Roadster Show, 2015David G. FoxThis year's coverage is presented without much commentary. It was a good time, the weather was great, and I was able to visit with friends. Plus there were plenty of good looking cars. What could be better? I did have to wonder about a few things this year though. It used to be that Sunday was the bigger day. After all, that's Fathers Day, one long-term theme of the show. In the past, Sunday would have larger crowds. Now, not so much. Perhaps which day people come is not so important. But I also wonder if the swap meet has become more of an "insider" thing, with much of the trading happening the day or so before the event even formally opens. I know I could have gone over earlier, but by mid-morning Sunday, the swap area was pretty empty. It is the case that friends who were active traders said the meet was quite good. Related or not, I did hear grumblings about how distant the swap area was from other aspects of the event and about how spread out everything was, in general. But, enough of that. Here are some of the sights from the 2015 LA Roadster club annual Father's Day show and swap. Roadsters first, of course, followed by closed and later cars, plus at least one rare part from the swap area. At the bottom are a few pictures taken Friday at the So-Cal Speed Shop open house. Per hails from Oslo, Norway, but multiple U.S. shops had involvement in the build. All of the outward detail, including the much-modified Brookville body, looks great, as does the SCoT supercharged 284-inch flathead. The Galaxie behind the blue roadster will never be thought of as under-powered, not with a genuine Ford SOHC under the hood. High-five figures and it's yours. |
